EAGLEHAWK capped its best performance of the A-grade netball season as it scored a 15-goal win against South Bendigo in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL’s round 15 action.
The Two Blues fielded their strongest team in many weeks as they took on South Bendigo at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
Goalers Mia McCrann-Peters and Chloe Langley were in great touch as they capped many attacking moves.
At the other end of the court Sienna Hobbs had the daunting task against Bloods’ gun goaler Gabe Richards.
Hawks’ coach Janelle Hobbs was against a club she previously coached and was rapt with the Borough’s play in a 75-60 victory.
The win also put Eaglehawk on the fifth rung in what is a closely-fought duel with Strathfieldsaye and Golden Square to feature in the finals action.
Eaglehawk heads to Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane for next Saturday’s showdown with Storm.
The Lauren Bowles-coached South Bendigo will be back at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington to play Broadford next round.
It was a closely-fought contest between Castlemaine and Strathfieldsaye at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
Six goals was the margin at the final siren as the Jess Mangan-coached Strathfieldsaye claimed a vital 44-38 win.
Although disappointed not to have claimed the premiership points the Vanessa Saunders-coached Castlemaine will have gained a lot of confidence from the contest.
The Magpies head to Gisborne next Saturday.
Golden Square took on Sandhurst on what was Ron Best Memorial Shield day at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
The Teigan Redwood-coached Golden Square worked hard, but it was Sandhurst which surged to a 70-49 victory.
It had been a lengthy break for the Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst which had not played since June 27 when it met Broadford at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Dragons play at Kangaroo Flat next Saturday in the rematch of the ’25 grand finalists.
Golden Square has the bye next round.
Reigning premier Kangaroo Flat passed the century mark on Broadford’s court at Harley Hammond Reserve.
In the clash of two mobs of kangaroos it was the Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroo Flat which led 106-16 at the final siren.
Kangaroo Flat will be back on its court at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Dower Park for next Saturday’s clash with Sandhurst.
The Jaimie Hooper-coached Broadford heads to Kennington to meet South Bendigo.
