WRAP-UP | Michelsen & Thompson Medal

The BFNL's night of nights was held on Sunday 14 September at the Bendigo Club where we awarded our two most prestigious awards - the Michelsen Medal and the Betty Thompson Medal for our Best & Fairest players in the Senior Football and A-Grade Netball competitions.
Congratulations to Eaglehawk Football Netball Club midfielder, Billy Evans for winning the 2025 Michelsen Medal on 23 votes. Evans claims the medal after a stellar year for the 'Borough, leading them as Captain all the way to the 2025 Grand Final.
Congratulations to gun Sandhurst Football Netball Club mid-courter, Shae Clifford for claiming her maiden Betty Thompson Medal as the BFNL's Best & Fairest player in our A-Grade competition on 22 votes. This Betty Thompson Medal caps an outstanding 2025 for Clifford who also claimed the VNL 23 & Under League Medal for the Bendigo Strikers Netball while also leading her Dragons into a Grand Final appearance this Saturday.
Also presented on the night were:
- Our annual Bendigo Advertiser Teams of the Year for Senior Football and A-Grade Netball
- Two new BFNL Life Member Inductees - Nina Cass (Kangaroo Flat) and Briona Giddings (Sandhurst)
- Kieser Volunteer Recognition of Service Award - WINNER - Julie Smith (Kangaroo Flat), HIGHLY COMMENDED - Laura Power (South Bendigo) & Paige Combridge (Eaglehawk
