KANGAROO Flat was too strong for South Bendigo in  the A-grade netball clash on Saturday to complete round 14 in Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL action.

Unbeaten and on top of the ladder, Kangaroo Flat went in as hot favourite on its court in Dower Park.

There was more than points to be won as Kangaroos’ coach Jayden Cowling pitted his skill against older sister and now South Bendigo coach Lauren Bowles.

It was the Roos who did not ease up on their way to a 72-49 victory.

Although disappointed by the result, South Bendigo will take confidence from the margin being 23 goals after the Roos won the Indigenous Round match by 64 goals.

In Saturday’s other A-grade match, Sandhurst took on Eaglehawk at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst won every quarter against the Hawks.

Sandhurst led 16-8 at quarter-time and 30-14 by the long break.

Terms three and four were when Sandhurst really turned up the heat.

The Dragons won the third, 16-4, and then poured in 20 goals as it kept the Two Blues to a tally of six in the last term.

By the final siren Sandhurst led 66-24 against the Jannelle Hobbs-coached Eaglehawk.

It was a comprehensive win for the maroon and blue after a 50-37 win on the Hawks’ court at Canterbury Park in Indigenous Round.

Week one of the split 14th round featured a 67-19 win for Gisborne on Golden Square’s court in Wade Street.

It was a rest for the Jess Mangan-coached Strathfieldsaye because Castlemaine is not fielding an A-grade team.

Storm played in all other grades on Castlemaine’s courts in Camp Reserve.

Standings in the Bendigo FNL A-grade netball competition after 14 rounds:

In next Saturday’s round 15 action, Gisborne will be back on its Gardiner Reserve court to play Strathfieldsaye.

Kangaroo Flat and Eaglehawk clash on the Roos’ court in Dower Park.

Golden Square has home-court advantage in Wade Street against Sandhurst.
