Round 10 Netball Review | Bloods take points on Eaglehawk’s court

SOUTH Bendigo’s hot run on the netball court kept rolling in Saturday’s 10th round of A-grade action in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL season.
The Lauren Bowles-coached Bloods again brought a high level of pressure to the match on Eaglehawk’s court at Canterbury Park.
A closely-fought first quarter ended with South Bendigo in front, 16-15.
The Bloods won term two, 16-13, as both line-ups added 14 goals in the third quarter.
With confidence after defeating Gisborne the previous round, South Bendigo withstood the Hawks challenge to win 58-53.
A tally of 4 ½ wins has the Bloods in fourth place.
The Janelle Hobbs-coached Eaglehawk is fifth.
Sandhurst dominated its match against Golden Square at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Dragons and Bulldogs met on Ron Best Memorial Shield day.
Sandhurst raced to an 18-8 lead by quarter-time and then poured in 21 goals as it kept the blue and gold to just three goals in the second term.
A 28-goal lead for the Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst blew out to 36 at a quarter to go.
By the final siren the maroon and blue led 69-27.
Strathfieldsaye faced Gisborne on Storm’s court at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
Stung by its loss to South Bendigo the previous round, Gisborne led 11-5 at the first break.
The Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne then won the second term, 14-7.
Premier the past two seasons, Gisborne’s run did not let up as it won the next two quarters, 19-7 and 14-8.
By the final siren the red, white and blue led 58-27 against the Jess Mangan-coached Storm.
It was a rest for Kangaroo Flat in A-grade, but the Roos did play in all other netball grades on Castlemaine’s court at Camp Reserve.

Match of the day in next Saturday’s 11th round will be Kangaroo Flat against Sandhurst on the Kangaroos’ court in Dower Park.
Another big match will be at Gisborne’s Gardiner Reserve where the Bulldogs take on Eaglehawk.
Golden Square faces Strathfieldsaye on Golden Square’s Wade Street court.
It’s a bye for South Bendigo in A-grade, but the Bloods will play Castlemaine in all other grades of netball at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington’s Neale Street.
