Young Eaglehawk forward, Jack O’Shannessy’s strong form at the Borough has seen him elevated from the Under 19’s team into the Senior team where he’ll be a key cog in the Senior forward line.
Under 19s Interleague Head Coach Jason Stevens said, “Jack’s selection in the Senior team says a lot about his form at Club level and he deserves the best opportunities to showcase his talents on the big stage.”
When speaking to the potential of the group, Stevens said, “We’ve been really impressed with the level of talent and the way the boys have bought into the program. They’ve trained hard, challenged each other, and there’s a really strong sense of pride about representing the BFNL,” Stevens said.
The team will be led by Captain James Gray (Gisborne), whose strong leadership qualities and consistent performance have made him a standout figure within the group.
James will be supported by Vice Captains; Jack McMahon (Golden Square) and Aaron Nevins (Kangaroo Flat), each of whom has impressed throughout the training sessions with their skill, professionalism, and commitment to the Interleague Program.
“James (Gray) has been a natural leader from day one, and the support from Jack and Aaron gives us a really solid leadership core. We're confident this group will represent the league with passion and professionalism,” said Stevens.
The team will complete two additional training sessions on the QEO on Wednesday 9 July and Friday 11 July before a final starting 23 players plus 3 emergencies is confirmed.
The BFNL invite all supporters, families, and clubmates to get to the QEO on July 13 to support high-level representative football.
