BFNL 17&U compete hard at Assoc Champs Finals
The tournament season for our BFNL 17 & Under Rep Netball Team has come to a close after a strong performance at Netball Victoria's Association Championship Finals.
Held at the State Netball Centre, our 17 & Under team finished fifth, to have them one game outside the Top-4 and to agonisingly missing Finals.
The side played some nail-biting clashes early going 1-1 in their first two matches which were decided a 1-point each.
After a couple of losses, the team rallied for a streak of three wins over Warrnambool City NA, Gippsland League, and Banyule DNA.
Needing to win-out to lock in their finals place, the side put in two uncharacteristic performances against Waverly DNA and Altona NA going down narrowly to both, two losses that proved extremely consequential.
To the teams credit and lead by Captains, Lila Kelly, Jaida Raco and Lexie Fennell, the team rallied to put in elite performances against Goulburn Valley and Wimmera FNL before pushing the undefeated Hampden FNL but ultimately losing to the top team in the final round of the preliminary matches.
Over the course of four tournaments, the team has competed in 44 matches with an astounding record of 39 wins and 5 losses.
Those 5 losses came by a combined 14 points.
Well done to the players, coaches, Sharni MacPherson, Alison Leech and team manager, Jo Morrish for their hard work, development and dedication to the program.
