The Bendigo Football Netball League confirmed today that Brett Fitzpatrick and Jason Stevens will again lead the Senior & Under 18 Football Interleague teams for 2018. The BFNL will play Hampden League in Warrnambool on the 19th May at Reid Oval in what is expected to be a very exciting clash.
Fitzpatrick is an experienced interleague coach having led the team from 2005 to 2008, 2016 & 2017 after acting as assistant coach to Neville Massina and Damian Drum. He was an assistant coach at the Bendigo Diggers followed by Bendigo Bombers. Fitzpatrick led Sandhurst to two BFNL grand finals in previous years. Stevens led the Bendigo Under 18 team to victory last year against Ballarat and has been named as Kangaroo Flat’s Under 18 coach for 2018 season. Stevens is no stranger to Interleague coaching having been assistant coach for the Under 18 team on three previous occasions. Jason has also been an assistant coach for the HDFL Seniors and coached two other junior representative teams.
AFLCV Operations Manager and BFNL Manager, Dennis Bice said “Both Brett & Jason did a terrific job with the Interleague teams last year and we certainly look forward to a strong performance when we travel to Warrnambool on the 19th May. Support staff for both the coaches will be announced once the season gets underway along with the squads to represent the BFNL. We felt that confirming our head coaches early was important to allow them plenty of time to appoint assistants and start to look at player personnel.
